kwiry service To Continue Under New Ownership/Management

June 1, 2009 – 4:07 pm

On April 13th we shared the unfortunate news about kwiry’s impending shutdown. Since then, Wabo, LLC has purchased the kwiry service and will continue to maintain and improve it.

We are happy to relay this news and hope you are as well. While the founding team/management will be moving on, we are glad the kwiry service will continue to grow.

The service is being transitioned and should be fully functional again very soon, even within a few days at some point (unfortunately it seems that working with the wireless carriers to reactivate the text messaging shortcode will be necessary).

Thanks also for all your messages of support during the past few weeks,
-Ron, Steve & Nabil

  9. Will anybody connected to this site take a pain to let me know when is Kwiry going to start or you people are interested in hanging up the people without any reponse.

  10. @firoz @cam @danielo Apologies, the new management is working with the wireless carriers to reinstate service on the text messaging shortcode. Unfortunately we (the co-founders) have limited information and no longer have any ability to monitor/modify/update the service. I hope that more information will be available soon.

  11. Good to see some response. Pls solve all your technical issues fast. Thanks Ron.

  12. Pls start…or shut it down..but don’t keep people hanging for such a long time.

  13. did some research on shortcodes apparently it can take up to two(2) months to be set up, especially since its a “vanity” shortcode and not a random one.. and look at the original posting date which was June 1st…we are probably looking at an August or September time frame, because there was an update since the original posting…just my $0.02

  14. @firoz - @retroblu is correct. Unfortunately this may take quite a while. I’ve tried to contact the new owners/management for updates but haven’t received any to share. Sorry I can’t be more helpful, but am no longer involved in the business. I am just as frustrated as you.

  15. Hi, is there any other service where you can use SMS to text a reminder to yourself? Does anyone know? I’m down with kwiry once it’s back up and running, I promise!

By robthecomputerguy on Jul 12, 2009

  16. nothing like kwiry …but some are “dont forget the milk”..and thats all i can remember right now, dont use it, just read about it after kwiry first shutdown, was lookin for other services like it, and couldnt find anything even close..

  18. It’s good to hear that others feel as strongly about kwiry as I do. I haven’t found anything to replace it. We’ve waited this long, I guess we can continue to hang in there.
