kwiry - at the intersection of all that is WEB
February 21, 2008 – 11:22 amI am trying to sell my motorcycle. ![]()
I love it, but the time has come. Craigslist has done me no favors. Ebay has cost me $66.00 (to list it twice) with nothing to show for it. Brutal.
But the other day as I was taking the train home, I read in passing about Kijiji, Ebay’s “Craigslist Killer.” Since nothing else has worked yet, I figured I would post on Kijiji, but I was concerned that I would forget all about it by the time I got home. Enter: kwiry.
I opened a new text message, selected kwiry from my contacts, and 1 2 3 I’ve sent myself a reminder for an important task that I need to remember. A task that necessitates being in front of a computer too. Here it is.
For those not in the know, Kijiji is a free service for posting local classified ads. It is region specific, and has many of the principle features that Craigslist has, with a web 2.0-ish feel. Lots of Ajax, gradients, and bright colors. It also has a WYSIWYG editor that lets you easily include subtle features like bullet points and bold text.
One the downside, you cannot write your own html in your post, nor include off-site hosted pictures (with services like Photobucket.) And it doesn’t have nearly the number of users Craigslist has, though the site is growing. Up to 1.8 million uniques / month according to Techcrunch.
If (when) my bike sells, I will let you all know. In the meantime, your spiritual support is most welcome. But I’m glad I had kwiry to help me remember.
